Maya Sansa (THE BEST OF YOUTH, GOODMORNING NIGHT) gives a lacerating performance as Stella Algeri, a twenty-five-year old veterinary student who is engaged to be married. Her wedding plans are shattered, though, when a violent event changes her life. She calls off the wedding, quits college and takes up a job at a pastry shop. However, after passing the summer in sorrow, the coming of winter brings a new awakening when she meets Franco, the designer of her wedding dress. Franco's restless charm wins Stella's confidence and together they turn their backs on the past and make a fresh start. But when a tragic truth surfaces, the capacity for happiness is once again threatened.
